David is starting Pass the Butler
I enjoyed this much more on the second read. Not sure why. Perhaps just more used to bureaucracy meriting a good comic skewering. Lots of fun, anyway. Can never have too many almost dead gender-swapping Prime Ministers on life support in an age of rolling blackouts, etc.

David is starting The Trap
Found my catch-line early in this one: “Nothing about Americans could be really interesting” (424).

Stalled around 2002. Too lazy to dig out my print copies and the Washington Post says I’ve had enough freebies.

Reading the series chronologically so paused between 1850 and 1875.

Stymied by the Washington Post deciding I’ve had too many “free articles.” Catching up on Sundays in print for a while.

David is starting Point Of Origin (Kay Scarpetta, #9)
Started. My last Cornwell (unless my father-in-law passes on more recent books). 10 pages in and annoyed already. Why does this author sell?

Actually re-reading the whole of Doonesbury (my 5th time). It takes a while. Currently at: 2 December 1971.

If a tithe (diction deliberate) of this novel is closer to fact than fiction, then everything in the U.S. is worse than I thought.

This is a delightfully terrifying labyrinth, which must be explored patiently and slowly.

David is finished with Anthony Powell, Revised Edition (English Authors Series)
One of the sloppiest pieces of “scholarship” that I’ve seen in a long time. A multitude of minor errors. It seems as though Brennan read A Dance to the Music of Time once and then wrote his critical survey from memory.
