I really struggle w series and books over 400 pages but I really ate this one up
Loved all the characters and enjoyed all the povs
Holland was my fav
I think Schwab is my fav fantasy author from what I've read so far!

Feel like the first half was p slow but also read it during a busy time and only read a couple chapters at a time. Would've prob liked it more if I binged it
Second half was soo fun I liked Alucard hoping he's still important in the final book

I cried and teared up a lot. My first time reading a memoir and reading one about cats was perfect for me. I never heard of the Tiktok acct before so I was waiting to finish reading before I take a look. I feel like I'll be so emotional looking back on all the cats I've read about, seeing them in action and finding out what's happened to them following the timeline of the book

Really heartfelt coming of age story, very heavy yearning
The mcs struggle and anxieties with being perceived and growing up were very relatable
I liked the writing style, mcs monologue felt a little repetitive and over the top at times tho

i quite liked the side characters and was interested in their stories
mcs were frustrating at times but i couldnt stop reading

Really loved having the single chapters throughout of the other girls povs and overall liked the cast
Feel like I needed more from Lydia's character but prob gonna be in the next book
So many turns especially at the end it was really fun to read
Pacing was a little off for me/ some moments felt so abrupt(?)
Felt like a mix of caraval & ouabh but better written imo

Really loved the gothic atmosphere and setting, the old almost abandoned manor surrounded by a toxic garden that comes alive
The mystery aspect was fun, I don't really read much horror but the grotesque imagery really set the tone too
Second book from the author I've read, I find their writing to be a little too intensely angsty, almost immature(?) for me personally

Really liked the writing and atmosphere of the story
Takes place in older times so was uncomfortable w the way women were treated esp the Mc who's so young, lots of things frustrated me, but I get that that's just how it was back then
Not sure yet if I'll read the rest of the trilogy
Loved the domovoi, vazila, Dunya, Alyoshka
Lots of world building/ set-up in the beginning, but it never made me bored

The first half was so slow to me and the main 2 characters weren't very likeable to me, but part 3 onwards with the time skip was soo much better
