I just finished The Secret Healer. Light summer reading. The writing, or perhaps the translation from the German, is a bit rough and distracting. The story,however, is engaging, despite its very predictable ending.

I just finished Tulip Fever, a historical fiction by Deborah Moggach, the author of Best Little Marigold Hotel and eleven other novels. The romantic intrigue will appeal to a wide range of fiction readers, while a reasonably accurate description of Amsterdam and its people during the Dutch Golden Age will appeal to those interested in knowing more about this fascinating period of art and culture.
