I like it, mostly, because it's exactly what I need to be reading right now. Very simple, with a clear misunderstood hero, and simple language

Okay. I have no clue what is going to happen next. It all seems really cool, though.

What I like about it the most is the simplicity of the story. Bod is in the wildest of circumstances yet, we're just following him. It's darned near the day and the life of, Somehow we believe all of this. Completely fun!

I've only read some of The Sandman by Neil Gaiman, and listened to the Ananzi Boys years ago. Full disclosure, I didn't like American God's. Couldn't get through it. But this one is great, although I think it's for kids. He very subtly gets deeper into the world we're reading and the writing doesn't get hung up on devices and tropes. Everything feels fresh. Seriously digging this.

So far I'm more than fascinated. Loving everything about it. I have it as an ebook, but this looks like one of those books you read in ebook from the library and then buy in hardback. The tone is dark, but the events are nuanced and relatively fun despite the setting. Digging it.

Not what I thought it was going to be. I thought we'd get a robust history on all the different ballparks and cheesy stuff like that, and I thought it'd be like that in a certain way. This is much more as-a-matter-of-factly. Like reading an economics book

This one is not for me. Something about it makes it seem rushed and somehow convoluted. I think I'll get back to it

We consider this a horror novel, and I see why but the point here isn't horror. It's a horror story with other goals

It doesn't settle on you like you'd think. It's as if it's pretending to not be a ghost story. The tropes aren't there, and it's not trying to scare you.

The narrative moves at break neck pace. Far more stylistic than I thought it would be.

i'm listening to it on audiobook. Clearly it's amazing. No doubt. It is too long though. 20 hours to go.

At about chapter 10 there's a really interesting decision made the main character. This weird decision makes me very curious about her motivations.

there are four characters so far. The MC, the new guy, the ex, and the setting. So far very Simple and minimalist.

This is a, I think , lore story with an interesting angle but it's developing and early on.
There are four characters So far. The MC, the ex, the new guy and the setting. Your senses get rattled in this.

Not sure how showing their training and what happened in that training would hurt the story. When I picture their training and then them heading into the area, it reminds me of a psychological Hunger Games. But we'll see. I'm really just getting started.

Here's my thing: for some reason, I have a hard time seeing the protagonist as a woman, since I don't even see her as a person. The author had a pretty weak attempt at filling out her person, well, at least to this point.

It seems as if we're missing parts of the story. We go back into the protagonists mind as she explains certain details that the reader needs to go forward, which subtracts from the obvious drama.

There's no way it's not interesting. Author stopped the story to do a back story, which was smooth and meaningful, but I didn't need it. I actually really like the ambiguity
