Rereading after getting my original copy signed when it came out when I was living in New Orleans and visited the outside of the house one evening because she was listed in the phone book.

Dosing instead of dozing. Racking instead of wreaking. Really needs a good copy editor.

Argh! Downton Abbey, not Downtown. Also, I know consistent present tense is a big thing for some writing styles, but in a book it’s just weird.

If nothing else, the community play scene is hysterical!!! I was laughing so hard it was silent but still hurt. Tears of laughter!!! It’s also a really good book so far. Heading toward 5 stars unless something goes wrong.

Alison is starting A Kind of Drowning
It’s a decent mystery though slow in starting and fast in ending. The main character seems a bit OTT, giving Rebus a run for his money on misery. I think if the actual mystery had started sooner and more was done with the villlains, it would have earned another star.

I received a free copy for an honest review.

Alison is starting Inherit Guilt
A surprisingly good mystery with interesting characters and unsuspecting twists. I really enjoyed this and would be happy to read more. I’d love this to turn into a series. Shane is an appealing lead and Jim a great sidekick and Gail and Dylan rightfully deserve returning roles. So glad I picked this when offered from voracious readers for an honest opinion. I want to read more!

Tessa and Alex need their own books! Montrose, too probably. LOVE Tessa!

Only just started and surprised at how laugh-out-loud (or at least chuckle worthy) this is. Eve didn’t get a lot of coverage in the previous books, so it does feel fresh and entertaining. I’ll probably be up too late—and eating too much as all the breakfast food is making me hungry with only eggs and toast on hand.

First issue is that one of the characters seems to be a Millennial rather than Gen X. If he is Gen X, just barely.

DNF for now. Too slow and disjointed and just can't get into it.

Argh! He keeps using collared instead of colored. And the excessive and overly flowery descriptions are tedious. He also seems a bit right-wing and vaguely misogynistic. And the constant US vs UK comparisons are too much and not always accurate. The pacing is a bit slow, too. I'm going to keep reading for now, but I'm only a third of the way through and annoyed.
