A do-over in gold is called a Mulligan, not a McGuffin. A McGuffin is a plot device like a briefcase full of money or something, and this book doesn't have one.

The book is by Moore, so I will probably love it, but right now I'm annoyed that Moore did not look up a firearm he included in an early chapter. The .38 caliber Ladysmith is a revolver, not a semiautomatic. He calls it an automatic, which is something else entirely. The publisher has editing staff. Somehow, nobody looked this up. Think suspension of disbelief.

Yeah. I'm not going to finish this book.

This book is in a suspended status. It could take me months to read this book. The stream of consciousness style is exhausting, and I don't even know if I want to finish this book.

So far, I think this book should have been called "Chicken Soup for the Kidnapper's Soul."
