This started slow and with awkward prose but once I got used to it… omg. It’s such a complex story with so many layers. Probably one of the richest fantasy books I’ve started to read in a while.

I’ve been reading this book for almost a year now. It’s so slow I’m really just forcing my way through each page.

The first time I’ve gotten a British take on WW2 forbidden love. I love how it’s two people with parallel struggles mirroring each other’s emotional pain. Left off at a super heartbreaking part. They’ve got to find their way to each other. I cannot deal with a melancholy ending.

I cannot wait to read a James spinoff because he is literally my favorite side character

The art of characterization 😍. Amelia and Noah feel so real and I’m only at the start of the story.

second part in! I loved the one short story about the two creeps in the warehouse and the rikshaw driver who teaches them a lesson. The end of that was totally unexpected and had me thinking about whether or not he really was the hero
