Already read "The Duke and I" a few years ago, so I'll skip that. I'm currently on a rewatch of the whole series after binging season 4 within two afternoons, so I felt like continuing this.

This book is more tell than show, and fails to convey proper world building and lore.

I really should check beforehand which perspective and tense are being used. It's the first-person perspective in the present tense, which I don't like at all and find very annoying when reading. Thank god this was on KU.

Also: What's with this medieval setting but rather modern language???

This book is pretty fast paced, so it's easy to get through, but... it's also idk.

The same tropes as every other romantasy book, almost all the characters have the same voice, the FMC is not like other girls (poor af, starved, but perfectly curvy at the right spots), there's a shadow daddy, the prose is pretty meh and most of the time it's just smut.

And the worst: first-person-perspective in present tense.

While I love how this was inspired by Pride and Prejudice, I kinda hate the smut-ification of it. Up to this point it was a whimsical cozy read and then out of a sudden a cock appears (or was rather mentioned).

We all know Edward's a creepy stalker, but being inside his head is just funny and sometimes really exhausting. Still, I'm having a good time here and I kinda like how Bella feels like an actual person with a personality here.

I'm not that deep into the book yet, because I started reading this during my vacation and most of the time I was busy, but up to this point I really like it. Major "Your Name" vibes, which I absolutely adore. Also love how vividly the worlds are described.

The fact that a new paragraph starts every 3-4 sentences annoys me quite a lot to be honest, because it messes up the pacing.

I really enjoy the use of Mandarin and Cantonese and the premise is quite fascinating.

(Got the ebook from Amazon and the formatting of the tones are messed up. When it should look like shǎng, it looks like this in the ebook: sha˅ng, which can be quite confusing. Thank god not all tones look like this but the first and third tone always do.)

I'm quite positive that I barely understand what this book is about, but I still like it a lot so far! While I cannot grasp the meaning of every sentence (is it even necessary?), I still get the overall vibe and I'm here for that.

Very cozy so far and quite interesting to look at dragons in a more "scientific" environment. Love the approach.

I love the tone of this book and Apollo's voice. I had some difficulties with the Heroes of Olympus series in general, so I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this, but I'm glad I'm enjoying it so far.

It's wild and I love it.
