Gah!!! I'm such a library geek. My city library is new and updated. I live in a university town, so the library gets grants and has programs available through the university. My county library is tiny and old-fashioned. They often have displays about local history. You could fit the county library in the children's section of my city library. But I love them both. Sometimes the one I visit depends on my mood.

I'm blown away by this book so far. Any major social change is a combination of thousands of experiences,and this is a story that I had never thought about before. This novel follows the experiences of two of the first African American police officers in Atlanta during the late 1940s. They walk the line between being disliked by other police officers, and being distrusted by their fellow citizens.

Very interesting so far. I need to check historical accuracy, but there is so much more to the story than I thought there would be. True of all historic events and the people involved.

Wow. This novel has a plot twist that blindsided me. I'm hooked.

I've made a two months+ into the new year resolution to get a nonfiction book every time I go to the library. There are several nonfiction books on my "to read" shelf, and I usually skip over them when I go to the library because I get caught up in the fiction section.

I'm not one who usually reads YA novels, but this one is a gem so far. This needs to be made into a movie, IMO.

My "Want to Read" shelf is currently sitting at 589 books. I may need an uninterested second party to help me purge it a bit.

This book is completely different than what I expected. In a good way.

I must have been in a weird kind of "waking coma" situation when I read this book the first time. I must not have read the description of this book which includes the info that this is a retelling of my beloved "Jane Eyre." Somehow, I didn't see the parallels, and I didn't get pulled into the book like I am this time around. I'm only a couple of chapters in, and I'm obsessed!

The struggle is real y'all. I have so many friends who have loved this book, (all the books by this author really), but I am not feeling it. I'll give it a couple more chapters, but I may have to put this one on my "Yeah no" shelf.

I'm really enjoying the book now, but a 54 page long 1st chapter to introduce the actual story was a bit much. I skimmed through to the good part.
