A lot of the poems I think are unworthy of being in a book called best new poets.

Some poems are too personal and lack any poetic craft, other poems rely too much on pretense of words, and lack imagery or worthwhile subject matter. There are some good finds but they are few.

ok, undisciplined form, poems that are too personal, desultory rants that hopscotch, just another disciple of the anything goes school of poetry..

pretentious, ex. 'vogue sacrosanctum' redacted is not a word that should be used in poetry no no.. just another poet that wants to impress an audience with vocabulary, but the imagery is sour

good surrealism, makes me wonder if he has read neruda, i think it would be better if it wad personal poetry, i was more interested in the imagery and the intent of messages within the poems

Brian Wasserman is reading The Poetry of Pablo Neruda
A poet who could write as easily as he could breathe, a true prophet, a true champion of poetry... one of the best

Brian Wasserman is reading Oracle: Poems
pretentious, if only the metaphors were put to use. large part of the book is esoteric babble, definitely a unique work, but not a work that distinguishes itself above other poetry.. id suggest the author revise, the poems could work if they werent so purposely abstruse

Brian Wasserman is reading When My Brother Was an Aztec
When my brother was an Aztec, the best poem in the book, a poem so good it punches you and grab your attention by throat, but the book as whole does not reach the same calibur

Brian Wasserman is reading 200 Poemas de Amor: Coleccion de Oro de la Poesia Universal (Spanish Edition)
Could be greatly abridged. A good amount of the poems arent very good, the kind that could be easily imitated..ex. you are my star, my life, you burn in me like hot coal in an oven!!! Many bad poems with cliches, and bad metaphors. There are some good finds, but I would recommend flipping around the book.

The message is good, the delivery is not. Is anything some of the lyrics would work better for a music album, but in a book they are unsightly. The who book is punctuated by sloppy poetic form, and clunky paragraphs..sure this is Herrera's method of expression, just dont expect me to tolerate the irreverance for too long.

Brian Wasserman is reading The Magus
a lot of pretense and suspense, the anti lesbian rants at the beginning were not only irrelevant but unneeded
