Too personal and reckless for 80 year old me. But I had to read some of the items in the "Sure sex is great, but . . ." chapter to my husband, who laughed out loud too. My favorite: ". . . but have you ever sneezed really hard?"

Martha Bratton is finished with Death of a Russian Priest (Porfiry Rostnikov, #8)
Reinforcement of the messed up system in Russia, where leaders seem not to have progressed past playground bullying. But Kaminsky always makes me smile at the determination of the good people to carve out some joy and justice in their lives.

Every bit as good as her father's writing, with a bit more emphasis on Navajo spiritualilty.

Martha Bratton is starting The Siya Rajput Crime Thrillers Books 1-3 (Where Are They Now / Finding Her / The Bones Are Calling)
I read the first third. Although it’s well written and very intriguing and colorful, the crimes are too viscious for me. I won’t continue.

This is a really nice perspective on the Great Depression and a shocking surprise regarding the Little House books. Who'd have imagined such lovely stories were such a struggle to produce. I have ever more respect for writers! I'm listening, which adds the nice touch of Ozark flavor.

Martha Bratton is 60% done with Rebecca Schwartz Mysteries 4-5 (The Rebecca Schwartz Series Book 2)
I kept trying to decide if I was going to finish #4, and did for the sniglets of info about the wonderful Monterey Bay Aquarium. But there's more cavorting and flip-flopping around among the characters than a real story line. I'm not going to finish #5.

I'm abandoning this one. Glib and shallow to me. Sorry.

Love it, but the book is so heavy I have to rest it on a pillow. It's trivial, but also wonderfully witty. I picture everyone as the PBS series portrayed it with Geraldine McEwan and Prunella Scales. That series is worth it just for the costumes!

I can't believe I never read this first book of the series I love so much. All of the books have the elements I love most: data, wit, humor, fluid prose.
