There's nothing good about CFS, but I'm grateful that it slowed me down enough to return to this novel. I had zero time for it the first time, but it's wonderful.

Reminds me very much of Armistead Maupin's Tales from the City books

No-one does hilarious teenage dialogue with an undercurrent of horror quite like Deirdre Sullivan. Already chortled numerous times while genuinely fearing what may be in store for me.

Still haven't got past the whole gendered magic, and swearing allegiance to the British queen thing and now the prison. Are these conditions the best an alliance of super powerful beings can do?
I've been listening to JDs podcast though and I have faith she'll address all this.
