I refer to this book, when discussing it with the people that have read it, as The Gathering of Lost Plot Lines.

This book should have been one of the 9th and both could have been an email. Now we are spending 500 million hours with Egwane while the rebel Aes Sedai try to rally themselves ot make 1 (one) decision. But not to worry, Jordan still finds time to have all these women worry about men.

I can see where The Godfather comparisons come from and I liked TG. I mean, men use your words amirite? but also the complexities of existing outside institutions, where everything, justice, vengance, business, etc. comes down to standing and posturing and reputation. Very well crafted.

So, I finished the first of these 3 stories, Rocannon's world. It feels very much like a first book. A lot of interesting ideas, but lacking a common thread or objective tbh

Mat's POV chapters are UNBEAREABLE.
Also, if we needed Cadsuane, why did we kill Moiraine Robert, why, why Robert, why?

I mean, I like Sanderson, but I get it now, if he managed to make this mess comprehensible, no wonder the WoT fans would kill for him.

80% of this series' characters are women, and only about 10% of their conversations pass the Bechdel test, and that is WILD.

This feels like the Andrews version to Horizon Zero Dawn and I mean that in the best way possible.

in proper Andrews fashion everything has gone properly to shit by chapter 2.

So Jordan apparently is welcomed to all of her figuring things out but not Astrid bc it also involves realising she is bi, so that is a different level of figuring things out according to Jordan, who is a fucking shit show emotionally. Cool cool cool cool.

This book is making me angry in the wrong way. And mostly is because I really don't like Jordan. Jordan with her biphobia and terfy appreciation of clit necklaces and her design self absorbed shenanigans.
Astrid can do a million times better than Jordan.

I liked this book the first time I read it, but I am liking it even more now.
I find the understanding that mental health, allthough affected by circumstance, it is its own thing and being in a happy relationship does not "fix" it. Many books take the lazy way out of "magic dick" that fixes all your problems. Escapism is all nice and fun, but the infrastructure of hope is more important
