Cannibalism. Why is there always cannibalism.

This feels curiously "separate" from the first two so far. Like a new season of a TV show after the last one had answered all the big questions.
A slow beginning, which I usually don't mind, but feels a little like retreading old ground so far.

I was really enjoying this one up until now. Sort of a classical epic fantasy style, with some exciting action scenes and a sympathetic character cast.
Just hit a bit of a weird scene with the sacrifice of a (naked, for some reason) woman, which I guess is the "grimdark" coming into play. I'm bored of this type of scene, tbh. You can do grimdark without the creepy sexual stuff.
Hoping this book doesn't double down.

Took me a while to adjust to the prose here — which is sort of classically-stylised, I'd say — but seems like this might be one of those books that really gets your brain going.

There is such a sense of wonder in these books. A dangerous sort of wonder that contrasts with the vulnerabilities of the characters, and makes it so much more powerful when they show strength. I love it.

How can someone write something that flows so well? It's not fair.

Still really good. Not much *new* here, but it's doing everything very well. Looking forward to seeing how it all ties up.

Took me a wee while to get into this because of the large amount of POV characters, but wow I'm really enjoying this so far!
It feels a little Game of Thrones-y in terms of the politics between characters/factions and the light use of magic... But isn't quite as gory/violent or sex-heavy.
Really clear, flowing prose, and interesting characters. It's like a really good, slightly magical, historical fiction.

Why, yes, I'm reading this for the third time. Why do you ask?
In fairness, it's an audiobook this time around (which is fantastic).

Note to self: When listening to an audiobook at work, be sure to check that the title doesn't say something lewd when it is cropped by your phone screen.
Brought to you by the co-worker to walked over to find me listening to "The Perfect Ass".

What in the sweet fuck. So there's an... Insect? Maybe?... looking after a small girl (who has paws, so could be a number of things) with teeth made of out frozen saliva, and he likes to spy on her? And is apparently aroused by her? What? Why.

I know I should like these characters, but I'm just finding them tedious at this point

Not sure how I feel about this so far. World is interesting, characters sort of tug at the heartstrings, but that feels a bit... I don't want to say superficial, but perhaps 'unearned'? Maybe because the characters bare their emotions from the first page.

This is very different to what I'd usually read, but I think I'm into it! Lots of Icelandic terms being thrown around, which is sorta confusing, but I guess that can come with the territory of a translated book, and you can figure out most of them through context anyhow.
Very intimate, very surreal. The world is intriguing, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the characters develop!

Three episodes in — this is sooooo good! Deaf and non-binary main characters! Badassery! Wholesomeness! I'm using too many exclamation points!!!
It's maybe a little bit jarring to see the writing style change between episodes, since the author obviously changes too, but I'm getting used to that. Very cool to see the same characters but in a different light!

Straightforward comic fantasy here, with an interesting and absurd world. Not sure that this is exactly my kind of humour so far, but there's definitely a few funny points!

Y'know, for a book about a boy apparently destined to The Great Evil, this is a remarkably relaxing read. Can see a lot of people liking this based on what I've seen so far!

Flying through the first quarter of this one. It reads really well, feels sorta familiar but new, and the world has the potential to be really really interesting.

This book is PACKED with information, and I'm loving it a whole lot more on a re-read.
