I'm really enjoying this book, but I suddenly got to a bit that reminded me of a lot of late 90s/early aughts adult fantasy, and it made me laugh.

I am pretty damn sure there is a Secret Baby plot line looming.

I think it's time to clear out my 'currently reading' list. Ideally by finishing some books.

A bright and breezy novel about totalitarianism done in epistolary form? Yes.

In my bid to Actually Read Some Goddamn Books For Once What Is Wrong With Me, I'm getting through some of my backlog. Like Wishful Drinking, which has been sitting on my phone for two months. And is thoroughly repaying me for reading it.

So far this has been an entertaining and clear journey into queer theory. It's like a more detailed version of those cartoon 'Beginners Guide to Sartre' books that my university bookshop had. Looking forward to getting into the rest of it.

Let's be honest, I just wasn't enjoying this. Maybe one day I'll pick it up again.

This is exactly the sort of book I'm in the mood to read right now.

I've not read a Patricia Highsmith before, though I've no idea why. I'm attempting to go some way towards making this year's books-read total less dismal.

I cannot express how much I'm enjoying this so far.

I've slowed on this - not because it isn't good writing, but because I've been too tired on my commute this week to want to read something so heavy, and lunchtime is when I've been reading Rags and Bones.

I've got an advance reader's copy of this due to work connections. Between the easy access to books and my 3.5hr round commute, my reading rate has shot through the roof.

A book of short stories lends itself very well to being read piecemeal over lunchtimes. and this is an excellent collection so far - I haven't hit a dud yet. This is reminding me why I used to read so many short story collections in university.

I'm so glad these aren't just retold fairy tales (I've read and written a lot of those). I'm definitely going to have to track down some of these originals.

Listening to this while I sew a bodice. This is funnier than I remembered. Mr Norrell reminds me of Charles Babbage. (Lists! Arranging things into category tables! BLISS!)

I'm feeling ambivalent about this book, but I do love this:

I DISAGREE WITH THIS SO MUCH. Twiggy's movie The Boyfriend, saw the early 70s take inspiration from the 1920s; later it was the 1940s. The "silky bow blouse" Allison quotes as a staple of the 80s were first popular in the 40s, when women move en masse into the office. 1980s party wear lifts style from the 50s.
