I’m tickled that Jane Jacobs is mentioned more than once in this book!

This reads like a child’s book. Hope it gets better.

Another one of those books that shares why we need such and such with vignettes or stories of people who are experiencing or in need of said such and such. These don’t do it for me I need the meat of the subjects. Maybe it’s because I’m familiar with the importance of places for people. Yes, the humor isn’t lost on me that people have stories and all that. 😅

Here we go again with the overly long anecdotes. Why do I need a rambling story about elderly people bowling on an Xbox? Sure, community and all that, but I don’t need a pages-long (rather, minutes-long in the audiobook) rambling about that. 🙄

Ok. The first 10% I had NO idea what was going on. 😄 It’s like those fantasy novels that starts throwing stuff at you and you’re like “wtf is going on? “Who’s this?” “Who’re they?” “How did we get here?” Thankfully it mostly chills out. Anyone who likes this and can’t get into fantasy, try fantasy again!

I just can’t listen anymore. Someone wrote a book that takes place in a tabletop RPG fantasy world about opening a cafe with contemporary banter, food, and drinks. There is even some dude just hanging out in the cafe just working. 🙄 Top that with the gratuitous explanations of the most mundane things, I just can’t.

I hope this gets better. 10% in and absolutely nothing is happening.

I almost stopped after the first paragraph. So far this is a verbose and contrived story of an author who might or might not be a foodie and trying really hard to show the reader that’s he’s a foodie.

Millions and millions of miles of roads are killing off all the things. Cars are literally destroying the world through climate change and having paved ~10% of the Earth’s land.

What’s with the juvenile writing and cheesy dialogue that people find enjoyable? Never mind the horrible 80s-esp machismo not funny humor. So disappointing because of all the talk of this book being weird and crazy had me intrigued. DNF
