I’ve lived the whole awkward “what do I wear to this work party/event/holiday party” and listening to Cherry go thru it made me hurt for both of us.

“The tiny dose of daily normal among all this weird” is a great line.

“Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence” used in a non-science book! Yes! My science nerd brain is so happy!

This author writes as if they’ve never heard the phrase “show don’t tell”. The lack of any subtlety at all feels very YA.

I’m really gating the flip flopping between locations and POVs.

I really like the audiobook reader for this one.

Extroverts. I do not understand them, but they sure are fun to read about.

This book makes me anxious because it’s too true to life - just with an overlay of fantasy. Eesh.

Every time a chapter in Lysander’s POV comes up, I literally say out loud “ugh. Fuck off, Lysander.”

The middle of this book is perfection.

I’ve waited 4 books for Mustang’s POV and so far it does not dissapoint.

Trying this series again. Fingers crossed it hits different this time, or at least enough to give me momentum to read the rest of the series. I like Six of Crows, so want to live more in that world at large. We’ll see.

“The physical manifestation of caprice” is the most perfect description of a cat that I’ve ever heard. And that’s 1.5 minutes in. Than you for your excellent prose Author Fawcett.

The style of humor in this book makes me miss my dad. Dry and sharp and a little irreverent. Love you, Dad.

Trying to manifest autumn by reading autumn-ish books…

I really don’t like the main character of this book. She’s so afraid of her own shadow. I want her to be more confident and I’m annoyed when she isn’t.

Such a slog. I feel ambivalent about all of the characters and that’s making it very hard to feel at all interested in what seems like it might be a cleverly twisty mystery.

The author did such a good job of developing these characters in the first 3 books that I enjoyed the storytelling journey here even when not much was happening.

Foreword by Emma Thompson and I’m already smile crying. Ugh, this one’s going to be a wild ride of emotions for a man I never met, but still am grateful to have shared time on earth knowing he existed out there also.

I didn’t really know what to expect from this book, but it keeps surprising me in the best possible way. Mad reminds me a bit of Matilda but E Zott is her own woman through and through…though bits of her remind me of so many women I know, just all rolled into one person. Definitely rooting for her to change the world and stereotypes at every turn.

Not my normal fare, but it was available when I finished my last audiobook and I needed something new to listen to in the car…so far, there is just something here that feels approachable for the generally anti-religious but still spiritual me.
