The cover, the title - I had to pick it up! Unfortunately, it isn't grabbing me..I'm going to give it another chapter but if I'm still not pulled in, it's going back to the library - I have too many books in the TBR and plenty enough for the spooky season.

As usual with VanderMeer, I have no idea what is going on anymore LOL

It is interesting how Star Wars tie-in novels work. SO much of this book's story relies on you knowing what is going on in the Star Wars universe, the past and the future.

I find it amusing that the blurb on the cover is by the person that adapted 'Kindred' into graphic novel format because the set up for this is definitely lifted right from Octavia Butler's classic. But if you're going to steal/homage, do it from the greats!

I didn't realize there were multiple illustrators so the change in art style was kind of confusing. I love the discussions on memory that break up each section.

Another story never told.

Just got to Part II so the real plot will be here soon. Apparently a lot of this series is out of print! Hoping that when the Netflix version is released, the books will get another run.

This book makes me smile and frown within the space of a sentence.

Listening to this now...I'm really distracted by the fact that the narrator pronounces the bard's name as "Dan-DILL-eeon" instead of, ya know, DANDELION!

Reminds me a bit of 'I am the Messenger' with the secret presents. I wasn't sure how I felt about the 100 chapters/100 words, if it would feel like a gimmick, but it works. Fast read and hard to put down.

Yeah, this is going to get 5 stars from me. I'm a sucker for King and her whole style.

This book is both making me laugh and breaking my heart.

OH NO this has a holds list and I'm not even close to finished. This was a tough one to have show up on my desk right in the middle of holiday madness. Guess it will be my first book of 2020.

I'm taking a break from this. It just wasn't engaging me the same way Belle Sauvage did. Might come back to it later.

I'm enjoying this though I am a little concerned with Michael Sheen's pronunciation of "Seraphina Peckala" which doesn't match the original audiobooks...

Got the story that takes place in a library and the boom is due back! Oh well, will finish it once the holds go away.

First story was pretty much "Duel" but giving the trucker motivation. Second story is off to a trippy, fun start with a creepy carousel.

An important part of American history that was glossed over when I was in school. I wonder how much it is mentioned in today's classrooms?

I didn't expect the introduction to be so...sweet. Hill talks about his parents and their influence and how grateful he is for the life he was born into. It was kind of nice. Then I started the first story and KILLER TRUCK CRUNCHES BONES! AAAAAAAH!

Just started this and loving it already. Witches, representation, history - there's a lot going on and it's a fun read too!

JoJo Rabbit is definitely just "inspired by" this - while there is a very dark humor running throughout, there is no hilarious imaginary friend Hitler like in the trailers and the protagonist is a teenager.
