I'm really close to DNF-ing this one. There is so much diet talk, gotta watch the carbs, gotta do more workouts to make up for this latte, an extra 5 lbs sparks pregnancy rumors, must stay skinny. Its pretty constant and grating.

While this book isn't bad, I think it is solidifying that this genre just isn't for me. I want to finish this one, but it will probably be one of the last dark romance and certainly the last murderer romances I read.

I'm not even a chapter in, and while I'm unsure about the trigger warnings, there are several things I like. One is a talkative fluffy black and white cat named Fred. Because that exactly describes our old cat, right down to the name. I miss my fluffy boy. Also, I totally get a 1st responder needing someone to dump info about the worst days to. Cause I've been the person who got those info dumps.

Y'all I don't know. Is dnf-ing a book at 90% dumb? Cause I'm not sure I can finish this. And I almost never dnf. She just broke her boss's phone. Threw it on the ground and stomped on it, just because she was watching a trolls live stream. This book has been heavy handed, but thats a step waaay too far.

I have a problem with the way the Courtney's goth look was discussed. Like she was a freak that needed fixing. It was very judgmental, and I think it would have been fine if she had wanted to keep the mulit-colored hair and even some of the dark clothes. Coming from a 30yo with pink hair. Also her bio-dad is the worst kind of asshole and I'm on at least 2x speed to get through him basically kidnapping her.

I thought Erin was getting better. Had even started to like her or understand her. She seemed a bit more chill there for a minute. Then the she got the dress and the immediate snobbish, high-maintenance "ew! It's used". It had dry cleaning tags! It was clean! Come down off that high horse!

Ok, the bear in the kitchen is hysterical.

I was kind of hoping there wouldn't be a book for Erin. She was do grating the first time you meet her in her sister's story, I was totally uninterested. And so far, she's proven exactly the same. She's kind of an a**hole. Complaining about the hospital gown? What did she expect? Ugh. She better get nicer real quick or I don't know if I'll get through this.

The whole conversation about Shelby's exam was weird. The way they talked about hymens and 'intact', that's not a thing. A hymen isn't something that goes away or you lose. Also the comment about "I don't want the first thing in you to be a speculum, but oh well". What?? Like it's some burden that she's a virgin and getting an exam. The whole scene sat so wrong with me.

Genevieve keeps wondering why Emma doesn't want to get close to her, when it feels quite obvious to me. She's a frustrating character so far, its been hard for me to force through her portions of the book. Miller & Riley are worth it though, and Emma is easy to sympathize with. Jason is increasingly frustrating.

So far it's been a slow start. And maybe it's because I can't relate to her, but Genevieve so far is irritatingly rude and condescending.

I've worked at a donation-based thrift store for 10+ yrs, & I take issue with the 'donate everything' mentality in ch 7. Please do not donate items that are dirty, broken, excessively worn, or extremely out of date (most places don't want your old VHS tapes!). Unless the donation center has specifically told you they will take those items, just throw them out - because that is exactly what were are gonna do.
