This is so creepy to read during a pandemic that seems never-ending. This is a unique opportunity.

The first half of this book was good. The second half starts to read more like a fan piece. Also, some of the album/song descriptions start to interrupt the flow.

Just finished Snapshot, 1988. What a strange story. It's clearly a coming-of-age story but with a bizarre storyline of a man that can erase your thoughts by taking a photo. I'd want to say that the cameraman is symbolism of dementia, but it's not. It's just strange.
Just finished Loaded. Was dark, like something Bachman would write, with some social commentary. I quite liked this one.

I don't know if I'm going to make it. This is like the novel equivalent of Trout Mask Replica. The words are interesting but most "sentences" make no sense and I have no idea what is happening.
I quite like the technique, I like that you read the same thing, shuffled over and over. But it makes no sense. I enjoy the sentences that do give meaning, and sometimes something happens. But it's hard to say it's good.

Finished parts 1 and 2. Going to take a break from it before starting part 3 (Public Victories).
There's good content here, but the author does waffle on a bit (RIP). What I've read so far could have been written in a quarter of the words and have been as impactful.

Enjoying this a lot more than I expected. I'd seen this one recommended a few times but I kept putting off reading it (oh the ironing!). Looking forward to finding out what the second half has in store.

It's picked up the pace from the last one. Even with the fore-warning, there's been some tragic scenes. Still not sure what I think of King writing himself into the book - it does add an interesting twist, and it sort of works, but it's still a bit of a friction point when trying to get lost in the book.

Not a bad story, starting to drag on a bit now. It's quite a bit different to what I expected - the territories side of things have been kept to a minimum so far. Looking forward to seeing how it all turns out.

After what can only be described as 'plodding along' (Wizard and Glass / Wolves of the Calla), it finally feels like we are beginning to get somewhere! King being a character in the book is funny (are the characters becoming self-aware or something?) and the Japanese dialogue was a bit unexpected. I'm enjoying this one, even if it is focusing on my least fav character.

What is this crap? An author has writers block after the death of his wife, becomes annoyingly self-absorbed. His memories of his wife are incredibly shallow. Whats up with the pregnancy?
This is incredibly unlikable so far & doesn't read like King. What's up with introducing Ralph Roberts only to kill him off a few pages later? And if he mentions the gingerbread man once more... I hope this gets better.

mmm, it's ok, pretty much what i expected. However! Lydon is critical of almost everyone mentioned (so far), but his mention of PT goes by without any negative commentary at all, despite JS and the CC getting blasted on the same topic. me thinks there's a touch of bias here (which defeats this book entirely as far as i'm concerned)

This one took an unexpected turn (no, I didn't read the summary in case it had spoilers), I'm quite enjoying the story of young Roland.

I was making good progress with this book, but I've not picked it up in weeks now. It's easy to read since it's just a collection of articles. This also makes it very easy to stop after an article and never pick it up again, though!

I'm enjoying this. So far, the only boring thing about this book is the cricket references! All joking aside, this is a serious book and Nadella comes across as a really great guy - responsible and caring - which I think shows in how Microsoft have turned themselves around in the past 5 years. Microsoft may have done some questionable things in the past, but underneath it all they are the lesser of the other evils.

This has been a slog so far. Some parts are great, and there are some wonderful descriptions and imagery, but this is essentially just some guy recollecting his trip back and forth across America, where nothing really happens.

Uh oh. I'm starting to lose my love for the series already. The main problems for me so far is that it's beginning to feel a lot like The Talisman, especially with the mansion scene. Another problem I have is that the dialogue is pretty awful and inconsistent. The Gunslinger just used the word 'ass' for example, even though he usually speaks old-timely.
