It is SUCH a vibe. Especially with the nature descriptions.

I am sort of getting used to the setting, though I still don't like it.

My lors this is BLEAK. Matt Stover is only called in for devastating books it seems. But this is so dark it doesn't even feel like Star Wars rn.

I could feel the grief in my throat when she was losing her sisters. Even in mere letters you can feel a lot of her heart and soul.

I do not think I click w a single author as much as I do with Charlotte. I couldn't stop reading her letters for hours, she feels so kindred to me that her thoughts could never bore me.

Having a great time with it, but I definitely prefer his stories to his essays, I'm not really an essay person. I enjoy seeing what writers have to say about their process though.

I have no more patience anymore. When I straight up start skipping you know you've lost me. I NEVER skipped anything in Gormenghast, I made myself read every word and slow down because I was LOVING it. Victor had my attention in the first half, but as soon as he lost it, I no longer care to slow down to carefully read.

Since about page 600 I've been uninterested, bored and genuinely disliking my time reading, BUT NOW HE'S alienated me completely w the romance nonsense I completely disagree with.
That said, I love Jean Valjean so damn much I am already sad in advance.

I HATED this chapter the most. Marius bored me to tears, so did the digressions, and 15yo and 21yo? Pmo.

Ok yeah Iam not loving the sci fi of it. The modern slang and technology is everything I hate to read about. But maybe w Erde around it'll be better.

4.5☆ for sure.
I loved it to bits, after the first 100 pages.
The overly sexual narrative and rape at every corner was genuinely a bit much and almost put me off entirely. Even worse since it's ONLY the beginning that's like that. The rest is pure fantasy, giving both LOTR and Witcher.

I am IN and I am loving it. I am beginning to cherish each moment I spend talking to Hugo about his little interests. I can't see it going under 5☆ unless I REALLY dislike the ending.

I SURVIVED the first 50 page digression, about Napoleon and Waterloo. Did I skip the entire thing? Absolutely. He can go on his tangents all he wants, I'm skimming my eyes over them and moving on.

1000 pages to go. I am, unfortunately, attached to Jean Valjean. I know that will come back to bite me in the ass. Onto Cosette.
