Lorie Miller is on page 103 of 549 of Damned Whores and God's Police
" The reason the whore stereotype has been neglected seems to confirm my thesis abput male writers : the woman usually depicted by this stereotype are independent, self assertive creatures who do not need men and would therefore be poor material for a man needing a character against which to cast his own dilemmas"P.91
This was accurate in 1975, 1995 and I would hedge my bets it is still accurate today

Lorie Miller is on page 58 of 290 of God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater
So far the protagonist ( Eliot Rosewater) a quirky character , seems only to be able to disappoint his parents because he won't act like a wealthy gentleman should .
My favourite quote so far;
" Eliot was a flamboyantly sick man,even then , but there was no one to hustle him off for treatment ...Sylvia, raised among rich and charming eccentrics was too European to have him put away."
p.16
