Reading this for "turned into a movie/tv series" on SBTB Bingo and only DNF-ing because I'm running out of time and I don't think there's a better option out there

(SBTB Summer Bingo: cover w/o people on it. Could work for friends to lovers, renovation romance, inclement weather, small town, or 30+.)

This is very well-written and edited, but the burn is sooooooo slow. It's clear who is endgame here, can we spend less time discussing paint colors and SBA loans and get there please?)

How did “low and behold” get past editors? This is traditionally published, for Pete’s sake.

This cover is great but I'm pretty over the mini-trend of Taylor Swift lyrics as book titles (I don't dislike her but come on). Also this is the definition of a wallpaper historical - not quite sure if that's good or bad, but definitely something.

Enjoying this, but 1) I do not need Southern accents rendered phonetically, ever ever, 2) this author has some weird body stuff going on, it's shown up in both of her books

Gonna finish this because I’m too far in to stop now, but I’m going to need to read A Room With a View right after to remind myself of how this story can be told well.

Taking this off the reading list for the moment - it's certainly good and very well-researched, but I can't focus on non-escapist stuff right now. Hopefully I can return to it sooner rather than later, but just not yet.

Since I put this down I haven't felt the urge to pick it back up just yet, and my ebook holds are all coming in now, so ... maybe later.
