So far, it's been very slow to start. Next to nothing happened in the first 10 chapters. I know smoking was thought of differently back then but I'm also curious how many times the word "bippy" was used, it's obnoxious.

I finished book 2. I'm still weirdly hooked. Yes, there are plenty of plot holes and the writing will not win any great awards. But the MC is definitely growing, and I'm still invested.
