Life can be so messy at times... relationships can be so difficult!

Sometimes I feel lost while reading and then eventually I get what's being said. It took me a while to get on this current page. The details of the story: slavery, African trading with the British, the slaves being treated as cargo, the ship etc, take a toll and sometimes I have to take a break from reading. The book is now picking up a bit.

Easy read into the lives of immigrants and the Caucasian family that hires them. I like how the book shows everyone's humanity although there are differences economically and socially.

Its picking up! Its the tenth day of preparation before the storm. The dog fight was a horrible scene!

Vivid and descriptive.

Good read! Eye opening and informative. Two of the most intriguing parts are 1. the law regarding slaves and baptism, that baptism does not change their status and 2. the Pentecostal/Holiness movement and its part in the Civil Rights movement which lead to the black theology.
