DNF.

I get really annoyed when audiobooks do not adapt text referring to the physical book. This is especially worse when ready by the author. You could not possibly change “as you hold this book in your hands, reader” when you recorded the audio?

I’m listening to this read by the author and I love listening to his voice!

I’m really struggling with this. First I cannot forget a horribly misguided date trying to romantically read this aloud to me using different voices. And the asides are a lot.

DNF. Main character does bad things because she’s good but flawed. Her nemesis dies bad things because she’s a jerk. Okay no.

This is my third Chanel Cleeton for my 2020 reading challenge of three books by the same author.

Rereading a childhood book.

Ooooh! She pronounced Henrico correctly! Lots of people still get that one wrong.

I’m not an expert in accents. The performer sounds more Georgian. I don’t think she’s Virginian. Stawton. VaREENah. Did these places change in pronunciation or did she get them wrong?

“They had one thing in common: they hadn’t asked for this moment in their lives.”

IS it possible she is using this hostage scenario: a man who may violently kill those inside because they are inconvenient to him as an allegory for abortion? If so, this would be a really insightful move.

Did this author speak to ANYONE in the pro-life movement? It certainly doesn’t seem like it. The goal of proliferation is absolutely not to isolate women in clinics and make them feel terrible. Most want to support women and let them know they can get help to parent. It’s patriarchal to tell women they can only be valuable, have a fulfilling life if they abandon their children.

I have a feeling I’m going to be hate reading the rest of this. Right after the opening lines I’m shouting OH Please!

I like the story, however the formatting of the ebook is terrible. Every few pages is a page with only a few lines of text. Very annoying.

The Sensory Brainstorm is nearly unreadable. I cannot tell at all how to use this tool.

The formatting of the electronic book is not so great. Every few pages there is one half blank.

Enjoying this book, but I do not understand why this book has a copyright 2017 but takes place in 1996.

She gives the characters in her novel ONE OF HER OWN NOVELS! Ugh. But original I guess.
