I so wanted to like this book. As a huge fan of golden age mysteries, I was enchanted by the idea of Sayers, Christie, Orczy, Marsh and Allingham working together to solve a real murder. The execution was not everything I hoped for, alas. The pacing was slow and the prose utilitarian. After getting about 35% of the way through the book, I gave up. If I don’t care by then, I’m never going to.
