I'm glad words/meaning is almost done. I'm tiring of the definitions gimmick.

A thumbs up so far

It is so difficult to keep track of the characters. I can never remember who's who.

I'm really enjoying reading about the mother-daughter relationships. I don't feel like there's much of any plot, but the characters are what makes it anyway, I think.

I'm finding this a drag to read right now. I do hope it gets better.

So far, phenomenal.

I seem to have a common complaint with a lot of books that I've been reading lately that they're just much longer than they have to be. Amanda Palmer has a great writing style, but this book is getting repetitive; I feel like her metaphors are being beaten to death.

The philosophy in the book is okay, and the jokes are eh. It's not a good read, though I'm not sure it's supposed to be. Not unpleasant, but not pleasant. I'll be done soon in any case.

I feel like I've given Frost a fair shot, and I also just feel like the selected poems aren't my type of poems (what kind of selected Frost poems doesn't include Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening?), but I'm very much looking forward to finishing this book. I'm not sure how much I'll go out of my way to read Frost henceforth. Sorry, Bobby.

[pg 168] There's so much I don't like about this book (and some that I do like, but mostly I find this book unremarkable), but Eugenides' portrayal of the yiayia is so accurate that his Greek ancestry becomes entirely evident. It doesn't have all too much to do with the story, but—

I like Birches.

"A Change Of Habit" makes me sad.

I was sad to see a book that started so nice seemingly deteriorate before my eyes in the last hundred pages. I suppose that doesn't negate how much I liked the beginning, but the ending was entirely lacking for me.

I find the dynamics between all of the main group of students to be so intensely interesting. Also, this book might not be as perfect as I thought of it as I started reading, but it is still thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless.

I love this book so far. I love it.

"[M]y wife is a daughter of Eve and doesn't like snakes." I think that phrase is positively adorable for a reason I can't quite put my finger on.

The Music One Looks Back on by Stephen Dobyns

I've read Wild Geese by Mary Oliver somewhere before, but I'm so glad it's in here. I like it a lot more now than I did whenever I read it the first time.

Part three was okay. Not very noteworthy, all in all.

This is a book I expect to read over a long period of time. I don't think it's really my cup of tea.

I really like the lines from the poem on this page (Divan 322) "the envy of gorgeous / Birds of paradise when we melt in secret laughter,"

Part two was a lot better than part one.
