Giving the one star reviews a cursory glance at this point , I find it ironic how they are criticizing the pure TOXICITY of the main character's views and not critiquing the quality of the writing or story at all. It's like the merits of a book is ENTIRELY based on the MORAL PURITY of all the characters and the author. To all you reviewers (who will never read this I am sure). Get a fucking life.

Currently rereading with a friend. Love Lahiri's writing!

I am really having trouble with this book. Endless background information and details about other things that contribute to context, but presented in a very uncreative way. I feel like I could have written this book as a college freshman.
