Aaaaaand I’m done. Colt reads like an old, misogynistic creep. I’m grossed out by him referring to Layla as a “young girl” as he’s lusting after her. Also, he’s a dick. Not grumpy, just an absolute dick to her for no reason.

BORED! I’m ~60% in and so bored with this book. It’s not a romance. It’s The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, but not at all as intriguing. There is nothing about Margaret’s story that’s keeping me engaged. What could have been interesting about Hayden and Alice has been ignored. So, not interested in the main plot, not interested in the subplot, and not interested in the flashbacks. Super.

I lied. I’m going to DNF at 10%. I can’t put myself through this again. Just read some positive and negative spoiler reviews and it’s obvious to me that I am NOT going to enjoy this.

WTF IS WRONG WITH NADIR?? I don’t understand how this is an enemies to lovers. She is the only person here who has any right to be angry, yet Nadir has been treating her like shit from the get-go. He’s truly an asshole. Mean. Rude. And all for absolutely no reason. He NEEDS her. I don’t think I’ve ever met an MMC this callous. This isn’t some foreplay tension, it’s just hateful for hateful’s sake.

Why is this book so fucking funny?? It’s not even just the banter. It’s every convo and all the inner thoughts. It’s the realistic portrayal of the sibling interactions. It’s the familiarity of a girl and her best friend slash agent. It’s the callbacks to previous jokes. All of it!

Needed a palate cleanser 😅

DNFing this guy. Story is boring and forced. Writing is mediocre at best. No time spent developing characters, feelings, chemistry… just, no.

So depressing so far.

DNF-ing this one. I already know I’m not a fan of YA, but I thought with all the hype around this, that it would be worth it. Spoiler Alert: it was not. From what I read of the summaries of the next books in the series, this story gets dragged out for a few more books. No thanks.
