ALL TALIA’S PROBLEMS COULD BE MANAGED IF SHE WOULD JUST TALK ABOUT THEM. The same was true in the last book. Frustrating to read and not that interesting of a way to add tension.

Did Gabaldon just lead about mold before she wrote this book? Every other scene includes the smell of leaf mold.

I really love the story, but sometimes Claire-who is supposed to be the strong heroine and is now in her 40s-acts like an insecure tween with a crush. I could really do without all the critical examination of her own body. Especially when the only way it's described is as basically the "feminine ideal". Shut up about your concave stomach, Claire and go kick some ass.

So far this is horrifyingly sad and the author is completely frustrating. The worse her alcoholism get's the more I'm pulled into the story.

The author's weird enthusiasm is infectious. I started this book skeptical but now I want to interrupt my reading and start going through my clothes.

Ok Claire is definitely going to miscarry right? That's a lot of alcohol for a fetus. I thought it was weird how much she was drinking but it apparently was common up until the 1970s to drink while pregnant.

Enjoying the story's I far. It's a little disconcerting how easily Claire accepts the rapey-ness as just part of life back then and something on her to avoid but is outraged at "barbaric" punishments for thieving.
