Prof Roberts is an excellent communicator on the telly, but I'm finding this a bit of a slog tbh. I'm gonna have to take a break and read something a bit fun as I'm finding this like a preamble to a history test. Sorry Alice!

RIP Gene Wolfe who died today.

For me, he was an introduction to unreliable narrators, to simple concepts using uncommon terms and to wonderfully clever writing, full of people I always want to know more about. His clarity of vision and his ability to communicate was awe-inspiring.

He is also one of the only authors where I think I have collected *nearly* everything he's written, on paper.

I'm a bit cheesed off at the randomness of connection between my kindle and goodreads. I figure I've read c35 books this year, with most of those on kindle. I cannot understand why some books are marked as completed and some not. Grr. I certainly can't be bothered to go back and manually edit 'finished' dates.
