Idk what happened but I just got bored of this. It got a bit repetitive halfway through and I'm not sure what the plot is, like what the larger story is bc they are already together and the problems are mostly outside of them. Idk. We'll see.

Slow paced so far. The spy aspects are not necessarily tension filed but the exploration into identity is very interesting and is definitely the heart of the story and the most intriguing element so far.

Is it a romance? This is a bit more like Thrown Off the Ice. Less romance more...depression? Which normally I'd be okay with but it says it's supposed to be like RWRB and that's not the vibe here.

This book is written in a way that it feels like you are in a constant state of being at the end of the book. Like I keep thinking it's almost over, and it's not. I know it's the dual timelines but it's just weird.

I got confused. There are like 5 narrators but 2? perspectives but there are SO MANY characters I'd thought I'd just missed something and idk this is still confusing. I don't think this book is meant for audiobook. I am CONFUSION!!

Do the heterosexuals ever get tired of being so predictable?

I was excited for this book. I thought it was going to be a The Good Son type of thing. But it was more like a Hallmark, soap opera with murder. And SO MANY characters. Soooo many.

I keep telling myself it will get better. I'm not even nitpicking, Alexei had like a whole shift in personality VERY quickly and all the tension went out of their cat and mouse relationship. And his hesitation with his sexuality just was not really addressed. Feels like I missed about 150 pages. I suppose it's just the book length. Things need to happen faster, but still...

Hello toxic masculinity. It was not checked at the door. Everyone is either a tool or a fool. I'm usually all for a darker story and I love a hockey romance but this actually has me laughing with how overly RIDICULOUS these guys are. Also, there's no fighting in college hockey. He'd be kicked for a game. Also so mean to women. Red flag city.

I just started the audiobook, which is read by the author. I read The Satanic Verses in college and will always admit that I did not understand it but I always had nothing but respect for Rushdie's work. I remember this day. I feel like this is going to be one of those important books.

I had fun with the first one in this series, was eh with Glitterland but absolutely loved Boyfriend Material. So at this point I never know where I'm gonna fall on a book by this author, but as I'm currently 41% into it. Words are happening, people are getting together & I don't really care? I feel like I should. I didn't realize Marius even had a POV in this...& it took me out of the story quite a bit. Idk we'll see

Fear me, for I have picked this book back up after 7 years. (Ew it's been that long since 2017??)

Anyway, I forgot how much I loved this, d'Artagnan is very relatable. Aramis and the church dudes having a full-blown debate and d'Artangnan is just like, "Please don't involve me. I have no idea what you are talking about."

Idk if I will get through this soon but hopefully by the end of the year!
