A bit too far fetched but fun read. I cannot quite picture Shailene and Lindsay as the two protagonists, but hopefully it will make sense on screen?

A little bit Stephen King-esque and keeps you guessing if this is a paranormal ghost story or a mystery. It’s pretty good and I enjoyed it (but the book also reminded me that Stephen really is a master storyteller. Sorry riley)

This poor woman has the shittiest friends. What a horror show.

Dnf @ the authors note at the beginning. Apparently, the afterword is a ‘re-imagining” inspired by a real session with a psychic medium, and I don’t know why you’d want to discredit your entire research and disrespect Vivien Leigh like this???

I feel conflicted about this one. It is fascinating and readable but she is a huge mess.

I wish this was only about Marcellus the octopus and Tova, but unfortunately so much of it is about Cameron the man baby who, to me, doesn’t have any redeeming qualities. At the end, I was fed up with their obsession with family. I don’t think you can trust a guy like Cameron. Poor tova.

This book is just wild.

Christian is such a frustrating character. knowing this is fictionalised version of true story I am not sure how I feel about her being such a mess and it’s not her fault.

胸糞な話であることは覚悟していたけど、現代が舞台なのに文章がどうも古臭く強烈な違和感。そのせいで読みにくさが先だち残念。

Super depressing.

I am in awe of the author’s imagination and creativity. Loved every single one of stories. Amazing

a treasure hunt/espionage story that never got interesting or exciting. Sadly too juvenile.

The narrator of the audiobook cannot even pronounce samurai properly. And all these inaccuracies are driving me mad! So strange to hear people in sengoku period speaking in modern and casual language.

It seems the only Japanese speaker author knew had a strange habit of adding neh? at the end of sentence which is so unnecessary and annoying. Ugh

The way Stella is guided and molded by (mostly) older men was so frustrating. Its almost like she’s there so that men can tell their stories.

Way too much name-dropping

Reminds me a bit of olivia goldsmith’s wish upon a star, but her talent being eating food is giving me all those movie characters whose sole talent is driving a car…
