Another late night binge. This is the book I never knew I wanted to read. I'm invested in these short stories. I'd be interested in the full novel of any of the stories I've read thus far

first story has gripped me. it's almost 2 am and I've read 3 stories

it's cute. might finish it in one sitting. love to see black women let down their defenses and win in love and play without being dogged out

it's cute so far

feels like a whodunnit crime and mystery with a bit of murder on the side and witty wordplay about black and gay lives. "light-ish" read. interesting but not asking too much of me.

we'll see where this takes me. Picked up the book without knowing much. Plot: An interracial gay couple has been murdered the case is cold. The white father is trying to convince the black father to use their criminal past to find and kill the killer.

ummm....thank god the writer is black because what? the entitlement of a white man to assume they know everything about a black man by their past and a tattoo smh

honestly this is cute

I'm here for the ride. different pace than I'm used to but the stories weave and Bob and I can't figure them all out now

I didn't have to google the authors background to know that they have a Jamaican background

I almost laughed when Queenie thought she'd be getting rest and break at her grandparents house. I think we've all heard at some point that arms and legs aren't broken ...🤣 oh you think you have problems? couldn't be as bad as mine 🤦🏾‍♀️

also I hate when girls, especially white girls are flagrantly offensive because they can get away with it.

also charging your friend to repay all the money you previously gifted her that you didn't need when they aren't financially stable.

Those are fighting words especially if said to anyone who was not willing to tolerate such blatant disrespect

it's giving me coldest winter ever vibes. I feel for Queenie because even an old woman hard of hearing with no eye balls could see her self destructive behaviours and questionable friends and standards. Queenie is aware just not mature enough to admit it and tackle the problem.

I feel hopeful for her as it seems like she might seek therapy eventually. I probably would want to be here friend with the neediness

As a child I read a lot of explicit, sexual, adult things...in adult books. The main character is living with his mom's boyfriend that makes explicit comments about his mother ...multiple times. >_< yuck. this also feels incredibly unnecessary and uninterrupted. very much made for boys by boys commentary

My first book of the year. Quarantine has been rough on my focus but hoping to finish this and then start on the series

This book is getting complicated...

So far so good. It feels refreshing to pick up a book about black girls even if they're young adults.

...i'm not saying this girl is perfect but I don't see why I kept reading reviews that this girl was just as bad as the main character/narrator.
