This book has a lot going for it--a creative story line, likeable characters, interesting delving into human nature--but it lacked just a little something. I think the problem was that I could never forget it was a fantasy novel, while the best fantasy books pull you so completely into their world that it actually feels possible. Still an enjoyable and worthwhile read.
