Simina is 49% done with The Girl He Used to Know
As I've spent my summer (and the beginning of autumn) reading mostly depressing books, I needed something sweet like a romance novel by Tracey Garvis Graves to improve my mood.

Being my first fairy tale twist story told from the perspective of one of the villains, I'm sorry that it's proving to be a disappointment.

I'm currently a few volumes ahead. It's one of the sweetest manga I've ever read. This mangaka reminds me of Yumeka Sumomo/Sahara Mizu and Motome Kyousuke <3

I don't know what exactly will happen to make this book mystery/thriller but the main character is ridiculous. She's an educated woman (a psychologist nonetheless) and yet she drowns her anxiety medication with alcohol, because they are not "antibiotics." Ever since she said it, I cannot think of her as an intelligent woman or as a competent professional in her field. FFS.

The main character keeps quoting Poe and Shakespeare left and right, yet this book has to be one of the most unquotable books I've ever read.

OK, I like all references to Poe and others' literary works, but this is not a literary novel. There is a clear discrepancy between how the main character expresses herself and her way of thinking and this intellectual persona she tries to bring to life through these quotes and references I've mentioned above.
I'm curious about different takes on biblical characters and this seemed an easy read.. I hope it improves

Ah, and the fire demon that controls him has to be an evil version of Calcifer.

All the scenes with Mirnatius remind me of Howl from Howl's Moving Castle, who is one of my favorite characters. Even the way his movements are written remind me of Howl, after Sophie accidentally died his hair, or when he came in exhausted after fighting in the form of a bird. There is something similar to hopelessness in Howl's demeanor throughout the movie, and Mirnatius seems to feel that way too.

I'm reading this again and at the scene where Pip leaves his family and friends to become a gentleman in London, I find myself crying with him. Again. It's such a short scene but it carries so much emotion...

I'm reading this book, "Big Little Lies" about a small community in Australia beginning a witch hunt on a 5 years old boy, while 3 mothers (including his) are trying to stop it. Written in a witty and upbeat tone (which is actually brilliant), the novel slowly unravels the deep dark secrets these 3 women have. When I found out that the rich one, Celeste, who seemed to have everything anyone could ever dream of, suff
