I’ve had a journey with this one so far.
Accidentally skipped 100 pages. Read another 100 pages. Realized my mistake. Went back and reread/read for the first time those 200 pages. Got hopelessly confused about the plot order. Back on track now but goodness gracious. Basically added an extra 30% of reading time to this one and maximum confusion.

Wait hold on. Why is this one of a boat? THIS ONE IS ABOUT A SPOOKY HOUSE!!!

But why is the cover of this a spooky house with bats? This is a book about a ship off the coast of China? What?

Kid me would be shocked that with only two chapters to go I am going to bed at 10pm instead of finishing this book. Ah the exhaustion of babies and jobs and commutes. Drew went to bed at 8:30.

"He had fallen on the earth a weak boy, but he rose up a resolute champion, and he knew and felt it suddently at the very moment of his ecstasy. And never, never, all his life long, could Alyosha forget that minute."

I've returned to this passage so many times since my initial reading, but it hits just so much harder in context.
