Show, not Tell. This book is serving 'Show, not tell' in dollops. I cannot put this down. When I'm not reading, I'm constantly thinking about the characters.

I don't care for these characters. The plot is great but I'm craving for more meat. Supporting characters are caricature-ish.

This book reads like a hollywood movie screenplay. There is no insight into the inner turmoil of the characters. It's all very robotic "I wake up. The lights are on. I walk to the window. I pull at the curtains. It rained yesterday" sort of writing.

Why though?

At the 70% mark, after reading 500+ pages, I'm bawling. I get the appeal of reading longer books now

You get so engrossed in the mundane details, and you get so invested in the lives of each character by this time. There's no going back now.

This saga has transported me to 20th century Kerala, India. I can relate to the descriptions and details because the setting is similar to that of my own childhood. The life of Big Ammachi sounds very similar to my own grandmother's tales.

I live for these details.

I can relate so well. This is taking me back to the time of my early days of motherhood. The confusion, the grieving, feelings - so many feelings, numbness, my whole being overflowing with love, resentment towards my husband, the unfairness of it all. Who is this new me? Where did my old self disappear? Will I ever find my way back to her?

3 years down the line, I still haven't found her.

These characters, especially the leads! Narcissistic, self centred, and the whole package that comes with that territory! Ugh.

Daisy Jones- I hope she can redeem herself by the end of the book. All she cares about is herself. She is clueless about what's going on in the lives of people around her. I am waiting for that one scene where she actually calls and checks up on someone else for a change.

This is incredible work.

At this point, it's hard to like the two main leads Daisy and Billy. They're making questionable choices and I can't relate. The rest of the POV characters are holding the fort for me. Especially Karen and Graham. Warren, (drummer) is fun and Eddie(rhythm guitarist)has my backing.

Some dialogues have stuck with me. I have to write them down in my notebook.

I'm doing the audiobook and this is so good! I care about all the main characters. The performances by the narrators in the audiobook is setting the bar really high!

I was struggling to read this in order. I just wanted to skip chapters and read the topics where I actually needed some insight. That approach seems to be working. I have ordered a paperback version now that my borrowed copy is going back to the library.

Today, the daughter said she didn't want to go to school. I used the magic scripts from this book. Voila! She goes "I want to go to school"!

So far, everything I learnt from this book has WORKED! 🥹

This book is useful. I'm having a hard time staying motivated to continue reading. The author shares an idea and then goes on to share real life examples. However, I feel like she over explains? Then I'm out of it.

I really really want to complete this.

Umm. I am somewhere at the 70% mark. The book was full of great tips and the author's wisdom until the 60% mark.

However, the last part is starting to sound more like a motivational speech from a self help book. I'm losing interest. I might still try to complete this.

I'm savouring this one. Slowly and leisurely. This book is a dessert, a snack.

Reading more than 3 chapters in a day feels like overindulgence. I consume, I take it all in, feel it being absorbed, sit with it, contemplate, plan, incorporate and apply it. I come back the next day and continue from where I left off.
