No, no, NO. DO NOT start a random frame tale in a horrible book in page 236! My interest is barely being held and now you introduce some foolish story written by Emil? Give me a freakin' BREAK.

The only redeeming character in this horrible tome is Emil...and that's a big, big stretch. Every chapter is a new journey of eyerolls and sighs. I'm only finishing because I'm hoping it'll have a satisfying ending...bahahaaa!!

So far one of the main characters is horrible (Yara); I can't identify with her at all and she just keeps making me screw up my face! If they're all as horrible as they seem I don't think I'll like this...

Eva...I mean, come on. She behaves as if she were the first woman to wonder about women and pregnancy and their roles in the world. Her voice is really getting on my nerves. I don't know how much longer I can stand the moronic musing.

I have wanted to read this book for a long time...It's only page 20 and already I'm finding the main characters to be pretentious arseholes. Sigh...

Mr. Hamid's editors could have suggested fewer commas.

You know, maybe I wouldn't be so disgusted with the main character if the author actually told us what was going on...this is a lot of verbal diarrhea revealing very little information. Page 195, people!!

Ever feel like you're the only one left out of the loop?I'm here on page 155, no clue wtf is going on...why do I despise everyone? Each character seems lost and angry about some secret...isn't this bok called "The Telling"?? Not much of that happening yet!

THROUGH WHAT??? Cleaning out a dead parent's cottage where nothing has happened? Does she have the vapors? Not identifying with this woman AT ALL.

I think I just need to admit that I am far too impatient for mysteries. I hate being halfway through aa book and still have no idea as to what's happened. The author has a lovely writing style, but I'm becoming annoyed...

So...what happened to my book? I was reading an excellent history about a family's struggle through slavery and all that followed, and now it's 2020 and I'm being bored to death about Covid. The entire tone of the book has changed and I'm not really enjoying it anymore. 😕 Not to be a quitter, I'll finish, but I don't have great expectations.

Only read the prologue and my nose is already out of joint. I don't like the assumption that all women are victims and all men are uncontrollable savages...that's the tone I'm reading. Hopefully I'm wrong.

So far, this book is very slow. Where's Nisha, where's Nisha? Jesus, can we find out? Sometime?

I'm not sure about this one yet. The writing is "enh" and now the main character is behaving oddly...we'll see.

No food. No water. Someone dead. Someone who needs desperate medical attention...so let's all get high. REALLY?? Do ANY of the characters in this book have ANY sense??

I feel like I've missed something. Martha is a write off; I can't begin to take this ridiculous woman seriously. Everyone seems extremely unbalanced and yes, the eye rolling has continued! I find myself just constantly annoyed, which is unfortunate because I really enjoy the writing style...just wish the content were better.

Martha just gets worse and worse...and this Oscar guy is as greasy as a pork sandwich. I'm very curious to see how this unfolds.

My eyes are rolling so hard at Martha and her nonsense I don't know if I'll be able to finish...🤣

The way the author writes about Arthur and the children...I'd like to stop crying sometime, please! Absolutely beautiful!

OK, so this is starting to read like, "oh, he's the worst ever, but I need him!" and then they fall hopelessly in love...I really hope not. 🤮

Why do authors find it necessary to regurgitate information they JUST revealed less than a chapter ago? Do they think we're just that stupid or are their editors horrible? Not a great start, although I am intrigued by the story.

Have these people never heard of a restraining order??? Why oh why am I still reading this awful book...

Almost 3/4 of the way done and this book has gone NOWHERE. Is Ginny crazy? Is the town? Everyone is annoying and stupid and I want to know what's going on! Think the author will EVER let me know?? Will it be worth it?? Stay tuned!

So, are we SUPPOSED to hate Ginny and all of her nonsense? Because if she were real she'd be getting a smack every time she opened her mouth, lol. I don't like the whole "damsel in distress" thing that seems to be happening here...
