Third or fourth re-read of this book I think. One of my favorites and perfect for spooky season.

I’ve seen the movie but man this book is actually really scary 😮‍💨😮‍💨

Wowwweeeee this book is goooood 😮‍💨 Fascinating concept and I can’t wait to see how this one ends.

Who did the mixing on this audiobook?!?! 🥴🥴 Daisy and Marin’s characters are both soft, breathy, low, and whiny and I have to turn my volume up. Then, when any other character is voiced it’s loud AF in my headphones lmao

This is taking me much longer to read not because it’s a drag, but because it’s actually hard to read at times. I knew in general terms the atrocities outlined in this book, but to read the primary & secondary sources included is heartbreaking. Also, John Brown was a real badass 🤘

While the topic of this book is extremely important—at several times, I found myself angry at the injustices detailed in this book—I just…found it repetitive and not organized very well. The individuals’ stories included within this book are important, and I would’ve liked to have seen them not spliced up between chapters as they were.

The tea is spicy 🌶️
