I absolutely love books about bookshops and book lovers. I actually love that this one is about a book newbie becoming a book lover. So, so good so far.

What I do love about this book is that there are several parts so far that I have found just laugh out loud funny. Joe's scathing critiques of people's personalities and quirks are very funny and relatable. Some of the situations he finds himself in are also quite humorous. It keeps the book from being too depressing or too dark which I appreciate.

Neither of the main characters, not Joe nor Beck, are very likable. I guess that's putting it mildly because I sort of hate them, like they're just not good people. And so then sometimes I don't know who to root for. I sometimes find myself rooting for Joe to do something insane weird and creepy and hateful because I don't like Beck and sometimes I find myself rooting for her to escape his crazy.

I love the children's book The monster at the end of this book which features Grover. it's amazing.

Right now I am seriously rooting for this crazy person to blow up and explosive fit of rage and just tear all these people down it's not even that I don't like those other people or that I don't realize that she's a complete nut but I feel like I wish more was happening so I really am hoping the ending is fantastical and like ends with her maniacally laughing while their whole world explodes.

The main character isn't really as creepy as I'd hoped. There isn't as much tension or suspense as I had thought there would be.

I'm listening to the Audiobook, and I'm not a huge fan of the narrator.

Juliette's nuts, and it's so interesting. Can't wait to see where it goes!

The story started out interesting, but now it's getting slow. Nothing exciting has happened in like 4 months in the book. Looking for a little more drama.

YES!!!!! I WAS RIGHT!!! My prediction turned out to be true!! Also I am liking this romance as a break from what I normally read. It is not steamy. It is refreshing that they are becoming friends first and not immediately jumping into bed. 😁 I like that. Hopeless romantic. 💜💜

Oooops, i wasn't done. The death I predicted was crushed about three pages later, BUT the second part of my prediction was just supported (I think!) at the end of chapter 8. Woot woot!

I've got predictions that it's not the guy, but the other guy. Yeah, clear as mud, i know.

I love the thought that ideas are wilder than memories. I like the thought that we have a multitude of opportunities to spread joy to, and through, others like Addie spreads herself through art. Very cool!

So far, it's pretty good. I just wish it moved a little faster.

At the end of ch 20 Mike says that he's officially awol from his job bc he had to choose whether to go to a meeting with his boss or to get on a plane and go try to help his dad. What year is this? are there no cell phones? was there not a phone in his aprtmnt before he left where he might have, I don't know, called his boss and said hey I'm not going to make it? Nope, he just takes off. It's stupid.

Currently reading number 2, The Silkworm. I really enjoyed the first one, and this one is good too. These are not over complicated, super twisty, never know what's going on mysteries. These are straightforward, PI interviews, clue gathering mysteries. A who-dun-it and, at the end, he solves it. They are getting the wrong guy!! .... or are they??

Is it wrong that I am sort of hoping this becomes a case of we know who did it, and now the characters follow the clues and figure it out, and the bad guy gets captured? I need a good ole fashioned whodunit! This one is headed in that direction, but I can't help but think that there may be a few more twists left in the next four hours (although I listen at 1.5 speed so it should take me less time! :)

This is a great story so far, and it is so meta. As a book lover and a mystery fan, I love that they talk about books, murder, and more books. I love a great whodunit.
