A perfect compliment to “The Dawn of Everything” written 60 years earlier

Hot damn this is an amazing, eye opening book. Very heady, very academic - but also full of provocative ideas and quotes. This should be required reading of any college level curriculum.

Holy shit this is worth the hype

This book about mass extinction is itself at risk of extinction. After reading James McBride’s beautiful wonderful Deacon King Kong, this is like walking into a wall in the dark. Mwa! The intro literally says the same thing every other paragraph in slightly different ways. Black is clearly ecstatic about the mass extinction but it’s killing any nascent interest I have!

Wonderfully written, a book to marinate in. First sentence was searing and every other since has just been delectable.

Another great book to read slowly, with time to contemplate and implement.

Riveting insight

Reading it very slowly, but each chapter truly revolutionize how I move throughout the day. A marvelous book ( you have to ignore the CrossFit bravado)

Like all of his books, the prose is a bit basic, not the most elegant or inspiring - but the ideas are just liberating and refreshing. He’s critiquing neoliberal economics, painting a fearfully realistic picture of our near future. There is urgency that is both inspiring and heart wrenching.

A close friend, hearing my complaints about work, kindly recommended this book. Damn it’s on point! A quick read, nicely balancing anecdotal stories with bullet point recommendations.
