Now that I'm experiencing Lindenmere it isn't unbearable. I still don't think Ronan would have given up on Cabeswater though. That part of this book feels wrong.

I've spent a large chunk of this book attempting to figure out what it is about Lindenmere that gets under my skin. I think it's that it feels like Ronan gave up on Cabeswater and Ronan Lynch doesn't strike me as the type of character who gives up. Especially not on something that meant so much to him and his friends. He was working on it in the novella, Opal. It's disappointing to see his character change like that.

Just starting out but the footnotes are literature gold.

Alysanne Targaryen is my hero. She says exactly what she thinks and doesn't care what the men around her make of it. That's my kind of queen.

Big shock, John's being a selfish idiot again. When is this kid gonna grow up?

Sarah again. I could really do without Sarah in this book at all. Let's just risk everyone's safety so that I can go see my girlfriend. Idiot boy.

John is disgustingly and not at all realistically in love with Sarah. He spends more time talking about what she's wearing than your average episode of Project Runway. I just finished reading a page and a half of him reminiscing about her skin and her hair and her sweater. No. Teenage boys are all about what's under the sweater, not how it accents her eyes.
