This is hilarious. Apt parody of a dino weenie paleontologist. All the great Paleo tropes are trotted out. Second most screwball thing I've read this year. I'm having a BLAST with the audiobook.

Ooof, already running into hallmark self publishing issues, like incorrect words, repeated portions of sentences, etc. We'll see if I have the stamina for these.

After reading a bunch of monster romances, it is clear that there is a big difference between decent execution of clever ideas and truly good writing. This is such good writing already.

I may not be able to finish this. The academic is ridiculously haughty, with very high brow word choices, yet is somehow dumb as rocks. There is no tension. The characters are cardboard cutouts. Mossa's POV was catching in the first chapter, but after that her interactions with others are wooden without the inner richness she had in the first chapter, because it's been Pleiti's uptight POV since.

The CACKLES coming from me while reading this... It's basically the author's own fanfiction of her own books. Oh my god the most fun I have had reading (defo smutty) short stories, these characters are so fun.

Though good, there is something about these books that keeps jerking me out of immersion. The author has a habit of making the characters repeat a line of dialogue a page later, and I keep getting gaslit by it thinking my mind wandered and I must have read the same thing again. Also, she is in love with the f word for everything, I think in an attempt to masculinize characters that are clearly written by a woman?

I'm struggling with this. Perhaps it's the narrator accent, but the academic character uses such prim and incredibly haughty language that she comes across with a very superior additude. It's off-putting and makes me hate her, and I'm an academic myself. The world is very cool and engaging, but the mystery is slogging. I appreciate Mossa's POV much more, but there is just no tension between the MCs.

Super duper interesting and very well thought out so far. Extremely well done sci-fi.

I keep dreading this book like it's a textbook or something, and then I keep somehow conning myself into reading more and every time I pick it up its full of interesting ideas and fascination. This one lights up my curiosity, but doesn't motivate me to read with most of my usual draws. I'll keep picking at this series, I like the way it stretches my brain.

Lukewarm on this so far. The people seem real dumb. Interesting to read about the elves tho!

Chapter 4 was one of the best chapters of the entire series. Delight does not even begin to cover it!

I find myself getting a bit bored. The characters feel like a long, roundabout way of reaching the author's points about humanity and mars.

The prose is such a weird mix of purple and jokingly referential. Cool premise, confusing execution, and I'm just not buying it. Despite being short, I'm having a hard time picking this one up. Apparently I need either good world building or good characters to enjoy a story, and this is vague on both. DNF.

I was not very into this book until about halfway through Part 2, and then suddenly I was up late reading through part 3.
