Lafayette is the 4th most populated city in the state with more than 5 metro exits. I was loving this story until the notion that Laffy is a main road single light town. Ugh. Talk about a city? Know something, first.

I'm still mulling over the first Zodiac Academy book. How did that extend to a series? I re-edited my review around 7 times from last night to this afternoon. I USUALLY don't care so much when I think a book is subpar (or beyond.) I just kept thinking, WHO SAID THIS WAS OKAY FOR A KID (teenager, whatever?)

Also, let's be honest - I don't write my reviews or updates with proper grammar - BUT I'M NOT PUBLISHING.

Holy grammar hell. This is cute, but, for a YA book we’re reinforcing improper linguistics.

“… and me” “…and I” haven’t been used correctly once. What a shame.

I love when writers get New Orleans in the proper light. Oftentimes we get smattered in so many inaccurate descriptions I end up DNF. Not this time! (yet...)

Do you give books with grammar or spelling errors lower ratings?

I’m not sure why it’s taking me such a hard time to click into this read. I loved the prior Rose and I actually BOUGHT this book (not a KU.) and I’m just sitting with it starting over and over. Anybody hit this?

Etc? After I finished this, after laughing at the ABSOLUTE absurdity - I looked at a wiki page for this particular book. Laughed - that nailed it down.

This book brought absurdity, but then, it was more like mocking her own writing.

Kinda bummer.

Oh good gracious. This is really terrible. I did check the reviews after a night of reading.

It's really hard NOT to just play it as the same relationship. I just phase out s/he and all pronouns. It actually makes it more asinine in the premise that 'first love' is the same. The gender role swap doesn't make a difference - the relationship is asinine - and reads more like the movie than the book.

Blah.

There is SO much gaslighting in this book. It's miserable. I'm not a fan, but will finish.
