No wonder I haven't read a single book in my native language in like 7 years. Can confirm that it makes everything sound unpolished and sloppy. Maybe if it was originally written in my language it could make a difference, but I simply just hate translations. Sometimes I unintentionally converting sentences back to English in my head so it sounds better.
