Chloe Garner is messing with my heart and soul, let me tell you. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a visceral reaction of this level when reading a book.

My students are absolutely loving this book! The charm certainly isn’t lost on adults. Enchanting, wholesome, and with a depth that can make both children and adults ponder.

“‘More penance?’ murmurs the Queen Mother. “How fascinating. I myself am quite addicted to sin. It does keep my confessor busy, negotiating with heaven on my behalf.’”

“‘Is there a relative value of beauty? Is evanescence—fleetingness—a necessary element of the thing that most moves us? A shooting star dazzles more than the sun....A flower splays itself into color—the lilies of the field!—more treasured than any painting of a flower. But of all these things, women’s grace, shooting stars, flowers, and paintings, only a painting endures.’”

It took quite some time to get through the first fifty pages or so. This book struggled to keep my interest initially, but after some initial awkwardness, I’m deeply invested in the book and savor every page.

So far I have mixed feelings about this book. The very beginning was amazing, the middle was eh, and the last third of the book has been pretty great.

My main issue is that a lot of events or sequences are either too convenient or jump from one place to another.

I've only read eleven pages of this book and I'm already loving it. Kathy Mackel's prose is uniquely immersive. I can't wait to keep reading!

I am really enjoying this last installment of School of Fear. I find myself chuckling out loud as I read, much to the amusement (and concern) of my mom.

If Lemony Snicket tried to write a peppy book about a preppy off-beat summer school, this is probably what it would be like. The book has been pretty "eh" up until this point. The introduction of Mrs. Wellington has made the book so much better in just a few pages.

This book has kept me up waaaaay past my bedtime, and I'm torn between absorbing the last remaining bit of the story because I love it so much and stretching it out as far as possible because I don't want it to end.

Great way to teach young students how to capitalize proper nouns. As a native Angelino, I found this book very charming!

This book was extremely interesting. One of the most captivating non-fiction books I've read. This book definitely provoked a strong response from me as I read it. The plot kept escalating, and I found myself cussing out lout at some of the characters out of frustration.

I'm still waiting for the troll to show up, lol. But we did meet Fluffy today. I had forgotten that in the book, Neville had also been with Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the forbidden cooridor.

Fascinating. I really love the way the book is narrated. It's an immersive read. It's usually difficult for me to enjoy nonfiction or journalistic books; so far this book is an engaging and enjoyable page-turner.
