Just when you think the story can't get more bizarre, you turn the page and find stuff like the guys living out a survival horror video game in an old abandoned mall, shooting at Silent Hill-like demons. I'm definitely going to have to hunt down the movie once I'm done with this one.

So far, about all I can say about this book is that it scratches that "surreality" itch that I had forgotten I had. The weirdness level is through the roof, and I'm digging it.

Slower going than expected on the books, despite them being a collection of short stories. The way they read feels somewhat archaic and overly-flowery, with piles of proper nouns thrown about that my mind feels should be explained, despite Vance's propensity to just drop them and run on with the tale. Maybe if I read some Howard or Lovecraft as a warm-up, it might make plowing through these easier?

Working my way through this on lunches, because I wanted to see where the original "Vancian" magic that has been used in D&D for ages came from. Based on what I've read so far, I'm really glad the quality of Sci-fi and Fantasy writing has improved over the years. You can definitely see the 50's-era pulp roots in the early stories that make up the book.

Good space opera fluff for the setting. Definitely looking forward to reading more books in the series, but I didn't realize there were so darned many!

This series is space opera at its best! I hope they don't screw it up on TV...

The tv series is definitely a departure from the books, but in a good way

Just started this. I've seen it on cyberpunk reading lists, let's see if it's decent.

Not horrible, but the series still reads like it's a transcription of someone's superhero rpg sessions.

A fun read so far, albeit a bit heavy on the almost fetish-like descriptions of the guns used in the story. :)

Interesting read so far. Fast-paced and reads like something one would expect in an actual comic book (which is a good thing in this case).

Just finished the first book in the trilogy. Definitely a good tale.

Just started on it tonight. Forgot I hadn't read the final book in the series, so I'm fixing that ovetsight.

Have heard good things about this series. Let's see if it holds up to the hype.
