I'm SO intrigued, but becoming worried; there's a concerning lack of KILL ALL HUMANS at this point in the game.

Oh my goooodness, what is going ooooonnnnn? (I mean that in the best way!)

Oh man, I'm loving this. Last night, around 73%, the suspense and horror got to me and I had to flip to the end and spoil myself to break the tension. I was getting too upset on Noemi's behalf! Knowing generally where this goes has not diminished my interest one bit though!

I’m very confused! But entertained. But CONFUSED!!!

Only one chapter in, and already two highlight-worthy snarky comments! <3

Oh no, I really can't take real-life sadness on this level, even if it's setting up sci-fi adventure. I'mma go read a Leigh Bardugo fairytale/romance/adventure instead!

I love you, Jane, but this one drags quite a bit. I didn't need to know every detail of the party planning, and in demonstrating how tiresome certain people can be, you go too far and inflict their tiresomeness on the reader. Still, Emma just realized the truth about Harriet's crush, so we're gaining momentum again.

Hah - I just realized that Jane Fairfax is the original Bitch Eating Crackers.

And 4% complete is where I realized that a huge part of my love for P&P is the arch and knowing narrator, who so deftly tells the story and underlines the foolishness of many characters. Here, the "Elizabeth" character tells the story in first person, and not only does that remove the fun element of a storyteller who can call her on her BS, but unfortunately Zuri's storytelling voice is really boring. DNF

So torn about this one. Mary is a compelling character, and Ry an intriguing one. And yet.

This is so self-consciously Artistic it's grating. Leaving out quotation marks isn't ingenious or offbeat - it's pure hostility toward readers for the sake of seeming highfaluting.

Also - random changes from the prevailing present tense into past tense narration for a line or two. Seems more sloppy than a choice. Ugh!

I'm having tons of fun with this so far. Cal is a very sympathetic Lovable Rogue (tending more toward the Shawn Spencer end of the spectrum than the Han Solo) who is in WAY over his head. I'm already giggling at this tweaking of Mech by adding "space" to every noun he encounters!

At first I loved the snarky tone and the fact that I had no idea where the plot was going. Now I'm feeling a little less momentum - there is a lot of sadness here, despite the silly bits, and I'm feeling like it's aimless - I'm not clear on what The Struggle is for S.T. - his goals keep shifting and his hopes keep dying. Hopefully it comes together in the end, because I do love S.T., Dennis, and the others!

It took a little while to set up the whole situation, but now there's a really compelling and disturbing dual-timeline tale of two women being haunted(?) by . . . we're not sure exactly, which makes it all the more nerve-wracking! Very atmospheric and creepy!

Ooh, creepy inexplicable stairway gave me chills - not the best to read in bed! (At least I'm not sleeping in an ancient English manse.)

I gotta take a break from this. I bought the book because I adore "Sticks," but "The Fourth Seal" was so painfully dumb (think "dangerous internet conspiracy theory with bonus sexism") I have to put it down for a while.

It's not fair that I have to do lame stuff like work and parent instead of reading this. Boo! No life, just read!

Loving this so far - compulsively readable, and equal parts funny and touching. But if Mummy doesn’t literally die in a fire by the end, I’m going to be sorely disappointed.

I love this already. It feels like a snarky updated Running Man, in all the best ways.

Boy howdy, I picked a good time to revisit this series - the last issue comes out next month! When I finish it, I'll have to revisit and may bump up some of my ratings - when I first read 1-3, I had no idea they had a discrete story arc in mind. Will it all come together into something greater than its parts? Signs (carved on hockey sticks) point to yes.

Ugh, 7 minutes in and I'm already sick of him describing this weird-ass bitch. WE GET IT - you can't remember anything except stuff like how magnificent her nostrils were. Is there a story?

I'm actually done with all the titular Fiction. I'm partway through the essay "Supernatural Horror in Literature," then I get to listen to outtakes and an interview with the H.P. Podcraft guys!

I'm interested, but I'm also getting frustrated by the obviousness of the plot. It's a compelling idea, but all us readers figured out roughly what's going on many chapters ago - get on with it! Also, Liz is becoming TSTL - failing to think of the most probable culprit in her stalking is unutterably boneheaded.

I made it through At the Mountains of Madness!

Man, this is weird. And it has an absolutely stark sense of humor. It has some truly harrowing and sad events, but I can't wait to find out what happens next.

A major drawback here is I have absolutely zero interest in Marcella, and I've just hit a patch of All Marcella All the Time. I sure how Schwab intended her to be entirely unsympathetic and annoying, and will get on with Sydney already.

Ehhhh. I hope this picks up soon. Not really interested in a teenage girl's diary/IMs. Illuminae did better by starting with a massacre.

Good news everyone! I actually already own The Song of Achilles! Woot!

Also, highly recommend listening to the audio of Circe while cooking - makes one feel witchy and powerful.

I love this so much - I'm putting Song of Achilles on hold right now so it's ready when I finish this!
